The Salviati family, however, having become marquises in the meantime and obtained the palace, entrusted a second complete renovation to the architect Gherardo Silvani (1579 – 1675).
Following Anna Salviati’s marriage to Roman Prince Marcantonio IV Borghese, many of the Salviati’s possessions passed to Prince Camillo Borghese, who took up temporary residence at the palace in the aftermath of his marriage to Pauline Bonaparte.
The wealthy Prince renovated the structure again on the occasion of the wedding of Grand Duke Ferdinand III to Princess Maria Ferdinanda of Saxony in May 1821, entrusting the work to the young architect Gaetano Baccani.
After Prince Borghese’s death, the palace was inherited by other well-known Fiorentine families, untiI in 1843, the owner decided to offer the entire second floor of the building for the construction of the “Casino di Firenze” which remained in operation for more than 150 years untiI it became a private event location to this day.
